Man this one went through about 9 variations before I came upon this one.
Selina Kyle aka Catwoman won't really need a reboot in this series. She's a cat burglar and sometimes anti-hero. She has a soft side that sometimes overturns her plans.
The main difference for my retelling is that she's a cat burglar for the modern world rather than the classic she just climbs in and cuts through glass. It's a high tech world which requires something more than a vinyl costume and a whip. Her costume is meant to blend with shadows, but a hint of color to break up the blackness. She has minimal padding (shoulder and knee pads), instead of a whip her gloves have grappling lines that fire with compressed air similar to batman's grapple gun. They can be used as combat weapons as well. Her lenses allow for night vision capability which appear green with cat irises.
Her backpack carries various tech tools to get her in and out of places as well as quick get away trinkets.
Beyond that the reason I had a tough time for her is that Catwoman has had SO many looks and most of them have been great and iconic. Instantly recognizable and finding a new look that fits her place in this reboot was tougher than Harley and Batgirl. Catwoman had to look somewhat villainous and shady, but at the same time she had to be cute and playful, while still yet she will need to be intimidating at some point as she IS the mentor of Batgirl and you don't teach anyone in the bat family anything unless you can eventually scare it into them.
Plus she may get slightly protective of Barb and at times when she would have to temporarily go against her criminal buddies, she should look adequately threatening as Batman likely won't show up in person for this telling.
All in all, I'm really happy with how this one turned out.
What I like about her costume is that it's alluring, as the character should be, but is also PRACTICAL and not over sexualized. I like how you made her sexy while still making her design look like a professional and credible master thief
Very good work, she looks stunning. I think the back pack is an excellent idea. I mean, I like the utility belt thing, but half the stuff they get out of it wouldn't fit in it. The backpack looks more believable. I like how you did the mask too. And Batgirl :3 she looks sooooo cute. I always like how they both interacted in BTAS. Even if Cat was playing mindtricks, I believe she was genuinely impressed by Barbara. You could tell Barb was tempted to work with Selina more often too. The way you drew them here, it looks like Babs is Selina's little sister or something, it really fit for some reason. Did you try many other colors before settling with violet ? If so, do you think another color would suit her too?
I didn't really. Purple has to me always been a color associated with both Batgirl and Catwoman, so I wanted to keep that theme with them since in my vision Selina would be the thorn in her side and at the same time a mentor to her.
I see. You're right, you can't mess too much with the classics, otherwise ... well it wouldn't be CatWoman anymore. Great job anyway, I'm gonna check out the rest of your gallery
