"Kirby Vortex" is a reference to Jack Kirby, king of comics. I don't have the space here to explain. Do a search on "Jack Kirby", to find out the ton of pioneer work he did for comics.

When somebody uses "Kirby" for some art technique; they are saying that the technique used is somehow like or taken from how Jack drew the technique.

For example: Kirby crackle, Kirby perspective, Kirby squiggle, Kirby exaggeration, etc.

Jack (King) Kirby is still a big influence on my art. (hope this helps)
